Bouchard is a total service oil
barging company. We are the only barge
company in New York State with 24-hour
office service, year round.
Since our incorporation in 1918,
progressive thinking and a strong
commitment to service has fostered
Bouchard's continued growth and
greater recognition. Today, we stand
firm by our founding father's original
philosophy that, in order to best
serve our customers, we must stay
abreast of the times and industry's
changing needs.
While increased regulations and modern
technological advances within our
industry have affected change among
our competitors, Bouchard remains
ahead, both in its application of
these advancements, and its greater
commitment to the petroleum industry.
Our fleet is faster, larger and better
equipped than ever before. We've
upgraded our barges with hot oil
systems to maintain the loaded
temperature of the cargo through
voyage and discharge time. This new
heating system greatly reduces
downtime and product loss while
increasing efficiency. We've overcome
the obstacles by applying sound fiscal
judgment and foresight. When towing
costs became too great, we built our
own tugs, which provided our customers
with a more cost-effective service.
After World War II, when the nation
began the transition from coal to oil,
our company too made the change. Now,
as the energy industry goes through a
period of even greater change,
Bouchard continues to look toward the
future with progress and adaptation in
mind. Through the years, however, two
things will always remain constant-our
commitment to our customers, and a
strong corporate identity founded on a
legacy of barging experience and a
fervent family pride.
Bouchard Affiliates, from the top of
senior management to our vessel
crews, shall strive to achieve the
following corporate objectives:
- Safest working environment possible
- Zero incidents impacting the
environment
- Zero injuries within the fleet and
ashore
All employees will work diligently to
achieve the highest level of
profitability which can only be
achieved through a rigid adherence to
the above corporate objectives.
Profitability can only be achieved
with crewmember and management
commitment to this mission statement.
Hi Pat,
I don’t think I can properly convey my
absolute gratitude for the kindness
and selflessness shown by you, the
crew of Morton Bouchard IV, as well as
Mr. Bouchard. When Benjamin and I
walked down Pier 17 to see the ship in
all her beauty, waiting just for us to
board, we were speechless! Ben just
kept looking over at me in complete
disbelief. The crew was beyond
gracious, showing us all around the
ship and allowing us to pick our route
around Manhattan. So now, instead of
sitting on the East River, near Hell’s
Gate and wondering what that passage
is like, Ben and I can both say that
we coursed through it! And the
birthday cake was just too much! I
have never seen a person more touched
or blissful than Ben, this year on his
birthday. We both agree that this
experience was on of the best we have
ever had!
I have not, for one moment since
Friday, seen a smile leave Ben’s, nor
my face. I have you, and Bouchard
Transportation to thank for this. I
have heard him tell the Bouchard tug
story about 50 times since Friday, and
I expect this number to only grow
every day from now on, and it makes me
so proud and so happy!
Although it is probably of little
value to you, if there is ever any way
that I can return such an enormous
favor; please don’t hesitate to ask. I
am more than indebted to you, the
crew, Mr. Bouchard and Bouchard
Transportation as a whole. Such an act
of kindness speaks volumes of your
entire company.
Could you, by chance provide me with
an address to both the crew (Pat,
Gerard, Chuck) and Mr. Bouchard as
well? I would really like to write
them personal thank you’s, and I know
Ben would like to as well.
Again Pat, thank you so much for
showing such kindness; I had the
greatest time!
Sincerely,
Jessica Phelps
