Bouchard Transportation Awarded 39 Jones F. Devlin Awards

MELVILLE, NY — Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc., the nation’s largest independently-owned ocean-going petroleum barge company, was recognized by The Chamber of Shipping of America (CSA) with 39 coveted Jones F. Devlin Awards. The awards, given out in New Orleans, LA on May 28, are presented to manned merchant vessels that have operated for two full years or more without a crew member losing a full turn at watch because of an occupational injury.

“Safety is the top priority for all Bouchard employees,” said Morton S. Bouchard III, President and CEO of Bouchard Transportation Co., Inc. “While we are continually striving to advance our operations, it is extremely gratifying to see our dedicated team recognized for the hard work, diligence and commitment to safety they display every day.”

In total, Bouchard vessels achieved the equivalent of 285 years without a lost-time injury in 2014. Thirty-one of the recognized vessels went without incident for 5 or more years, with the B. No. 285 and B. No. 275 achieving 28 and 19 consecutive years without LTI, respectively.

As part of Bouchard Transportations’ ongoing fleet expansion, Barge B. No. 270 and the Kim M. Bouchard, part of the ATB unit, were launched earlier this year. When paired, Kim M. Bouchard and Barge B. No. 270 will be the eighteenth ATB unit and the safest and most technologically advanced unit of its kind, and will look forward to being included among the prestigious Devlin Award winners for Bouchard Transportation Co.
