Description:
The Gulf Coast Vessel Supervisor, Mid-Size Units is responsible for ensuring that all mid-size ATB units operating in the Gulf Coast are crewed, inspected, and audited in compliance with Bouchard’s Safety Management System (SMS), and regulatory requirements. BTC mid-size units include: M/V Bouchard Girls & B. No. 295, M/V Ralph E. Bouchard & B. No. 230, M/V J. George Betz & B. No. 235, M/V Linda Lee Bouchard & B. No. 205.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement company audit and inspection policies and procedures according to the SMS manual to ensure that all vessels are operating safely and efficiently
  • Conduct vessel audits and inspections to ensure safe operating conditions, and immediately arrange for maintenance and repair activities to correct any deficiencies
  • Provide written reports on findings and corrective action plans after all vessel inspections
  • Ensure that all appropriate company personnel are notified of all inspections, and that the proper documentation is accurately completed
  • Act as a liaison with shipyards, equipment suppliers, classification societies and regulatory bodies
  • Assure that all assigned vessels are operating within the company’s operating procedures
  • Travel to various ports of call to consult with vessel personnel regarding operating procedures, maintenance schedules and safety requirements
  • Hold a strong knowledge and understanding of Bouchard’s Safety Management System, and work to ensure compliance is met across all mid-size ATB units within the BTC fleet.

Education & Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a Maritime Academy, or equivalent experience (10) years in marine transportation.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in maritime auditing and inspections
  • Valid TWIC Card / Driver’s License.
  • Working knowledge of USCG and ABS Vessel Regulations, and ISM Code
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast pace environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks, while meeting multiple deadlines
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Working Conditions & Environment:

  • Must be able to work in both office and outside conditions.
  • Available 24 hours a day, including nights, weekends and holidays via rotating schedule.
  • Ability to climb ladders for access to cargo/ballast/void tanks is required
  • Ability to gain access to shipyards and oil terminals (TWIC Required)
  • Ability to travel as needed
