Letters of Appreciation From Recent Bouchard Scholarship Winners

Dear Mr. Morton Bouchard,

My name is Steven Iezzi and I am a cadet at SUNY Maritime. I recently found out that I have been awarded the Morton S. Bouchard, Jr., Memorial Scholarship from your prestigious company. I wanted to personally thank you for this generous award and to tell you that it brings me great honor to receive it. I have been involved with your company since the summer of 2011 when I had a 70 day internship on the Morton S. Bouchard IV. It was one of the greatest experiences in my life and provided me with experience few cadets from my school can say that they have had. Later in my junior year, I reached out to your company to help fulfill TOAR requirements for the Tugs and Towing class I was taking. Your company kindly agreed and quickly helped me get assigned to a tug for a 4-day internship. Receiving this scholarship is another charitable gesture from your company that I will never forget and will be eternally grateful for.

Mr. Bouchard,

I would like to thank you and the entire Bouchard Transpmtation Company for your generosity in providing me with the Morton S. Bouchard, Jr., Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will help pay for a large portion of my tuition, and allow me to maintain my status as a full time student. At this time I have reached the halfway point of my studies which will end with obtaining the 3’d Mate Unlimited license. While attending SUNY Maritime I have spent time working on completing my TOAR, which I hope will to lead me to a job on board a tug upon completion of my program.

Before starting the Graduate License program at SUNY I spent six years working for Miller’s Launch, splitting my time between their towing and offshore supply vessels. Through this experience I became very familiar with the Bouchard Transportation Company as a well respected operation. The Graduate License program has offered me the opportunity to bypass much of the required sea time that would have been needed to obtain a similar license had I continued to work full time. While this program offers great opportunity it does require full time student status that prevents me from working. This is why I am so grateful for this scholarship opportunity. With this I will continue my course of study, anxiously awaiting to return to work, hopefully with a company such as Bouchard.

Very Respectfully,

Kevin Ihde

Dear Mr. Morton Bouchard,

My name is Brett Ruppert, I am a cadet at SUNY Maritime, and one of the recipients of the Morton Bouchard Jr., Memorial Scholarship for 2013. I am writing to express my extreme gratitude for this opportunity and this honor.

Needless to say, the donation will go a long way towards the completion of my education. But what I am most grateful for is the opportunity that receiving this scholarship will afford me.

I am looking forward to meeting with you and other members of Bouchard Transportation for I would eventually like to pursue an internship at your company for the Fall semester of 2013. Because of your generous donation I will not have to work while attending Maritime during this semester and would instead like to use that time to gain some invaluable experience at your company.

Thank you again.

Cadet Brett Ruppert
